Doug Pederson: The football seems to find Andre Cisco

Jacksonville Jaguars free safety Andre Cisco finished the 2022 season with three interceptions. Coach Doug Pederson thinks more are on the way 2023.

“We know he’s going to be around the football, it seems to find him,” Pederson said of Cisco on Friday. “We just got to make sure he catches it when it comes his way. He’s a great leader back there, not only for the defense but for the team as well. He’s just another one of the young players that we’re excited to watch play.”

Cisco, 23, was a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft, but was on the field for just 22 percent of the Jaguars’ defensive snaps during his rookie season. He stepped into the starting lineup in year two and had an up-and-down season, earning a 67.1 grade from PFF.

In the offseason, Cisco said putting on some size was a “main focus” ahead of his third season. The results were pretty obvious.

Jaguars defensive coordinator Mike Caldwell told reporters in August that it was clear that Cisco was “ready to take that next step” as a player in 2023.

In addition to his three picks last year, Cisco recorded a sack, 73 tackles, and he defended 10 passes.
