Dolphins trade former No. 1 pick Noah Igbinoghene for Cowboys CB

MIAMI GARDENS -- Cornerback Noah Igbinoghene, a first-round draft pick of the Dolphins in 2020, was traded to the Dallas Cowboys for cornerback Kelvin Joseph on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

Joseph, 22, was a second-round pick in 2021.

Joseph was interviewed but cleared by police in connection with a fatal shooting in March 2022. Two men were accused of killing a man from a black SUV. Joseph was a passenger in the vehicle.

Igbinoghene was the 30th overall pick in the draft in which Miami had three first-round picks. He has struggled to live up to that billing, starting only five of the 32 games in which he has appeared. He has one career interception, two forced fumbles and 29 tackles.

His career highlight was catching a game-clinching interception in October against the Pittsburgh Steelers, a play captured in a photo pasted to the elevator doors inside the stadium for one week.

“That’s dope, man,” Igbinoghene said of the weekly honor.

Joseph started only three of 26 games played for the Cowboys. He has no career interceptions, four passes defensed, one fumble recovery and 36 tackles.

Quarterbacks had a 147.9 passer rating against Joseph last year. He played 70 percent of Dallas’ special teams snaps last season.

Among other noteworthy observations from the start of practice:

  • WR Jaylen Waddle was seen but didn't have his helmet.

  • RB De'Von Achane had a red, non-0contact jersey.
