Dolphins signing former Patriots DL Byron Cowart to the practice squad

While the Miami Dolphins showed an improved front in Week 2 against the New England Patriots after allowing over 200 yards to the Los Angeles Chargers the week prior, they aren’t done trying to get better on the defensive line.

According to NFL agency JL Sports, their client, defensive lineman Byron Cowart, has agreed to a deal to join the Dolphins’ practice squad.

Cowart, 27, was originally a fifth-round draft pick of the New England Patriots in 2019 following a collegiate career split between Auburn and Maryland.

In his two seasons with New England, he recorded 29 total tackles and one sack while playing just 21% of the team’s defensive snaps.

Corwart played in all 17 games for the Indianapolis Colts in 2022, recording 12 tackles before trying to stick with the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans this past offseason.
