Dodgers' Turner, Forsythe could come off DL on Tuesday

The slumping Los Angeles Dodgers are poised to get a big boost in the lineup.

The defending National League champions, just 16-22 entering Saturday, are expected to see the return of third baseman Justin Turner and infielder Logan Forsythe from the disabled list Tuesday, manager Dave Roberts told reporters Saturday.

Turner, 33, suffered a small non-displaced fracture of his left wrist when hit by a pitch in a spring training game and has not played yet this season.

Turner was named an All-Star for the first time last season as he sported a .377 batting average in the first half. He finished the campaign at .322 with 21 home runs and 71 RBIs to place among the top 10 of the National League MVP vote for the second straight year.

Forsythe has been sidelined since last playing on April 14 and has been battling right shoulder inflammation. Before going on the DL, the eight-year veteran was hitting just .174/.224/.283 in 49 plate appearances after hitting .224/.351/.327 last season in his first season with Los Angeles.

Also on Saturday, the Dodgers selected the contract of ambidextrous pitcher Pat Venditte from Triple-A Oklahoma City, optioning right-hander Brock Stewart to OKC in a corresponding move. Venditte, 32, is recognized as baseball's only active switch-pitcher. He joined the Dodgers on a minor league contract with a spring invite during the offseason.

To make room for Venditte on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred shortstop Corey Seager to the 60-day disabled list. Seager is out for the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
