Dodgers agree to deal with reliever Perez

The Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to a one-year deal with free agent right-handed reliever Chris Perez on Monday, according to multiple reports.

Financial terms of the deal were not available. He made $7.3 million this year.

Perez, 28, went 5-3 with a 4.33 ERA and 25 saves this year for the Cleveland Indians. In the past four seasons as the Indians closer, Perez collected 123 saves.

The Indians released him after the season following a second half in which he had a 5.60 ERA. He and his wife were arrested for marijuana possession in June and put on probation in September after pleading no contest.

Perez adds depth to a Dodgers bullpen that includes Brian Wilson, J.P. Howell, Paco Rodriguez, Brandon League, Chris Withrow and closer Kenley Jansen.
