Dispatch announces spring honorees for 2023 Central Ohio High School Sports Awards
In the fall and winter, we reveal the honorees for the Central Ohio High School Sports Awards one sport at a time. But time is short in the spring, so we’re announcing the selections from those sports in one story to give them time to register for the live show at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
Athletes from 30 sports will be honored at the show, which is presented by Encova Insurance and produced with the support of Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Each honoree is a finalist to be named Athlete of the Year in their sport. Also during the show, we’ll reveal the overall Boys Athlete of the Year, Girls Athlete of the Year, Coach of the Year, Boys Team of the Year and Girls Team of the Year for 2022-23.
In addition, $63,000 in scholarships will be awarded thanks to Encova Insurance and the Warren B. Sneed Memorial Scholarship. Former Dublin Coffman, Notre Dame and NFL quarterback Brady Quinn will be the guest speaker.
Nominated athletes need to register for the show at sportsawards.usatoday.com/centralohio. Each athlete will receive one free ticket to the show, and additional tickets can be purchased at ventures.enmotive.com/events/register/central-ohio-high-school-sports-awards.
The Central Ohio High School Sports Awards show is part of the USA Today High School Sports Awards program, the largest high school sports recognition program in the country.
Our Dispatch All-Metro stories highlighting athletes from all spring sports will run in the coming weeks. We also are selecting one All-Metro Coach of the Year for each sport.
