How did Nashville Predators celebrate David Poile? How about a banner, Golden Hall decree

Of course there was a banner.

This is the Nashville Predators, after all.

A giant gray cloth in the shape of a rectangle hung high over the ice inside a packed-to-the-rafters Bridgestone Arena before Wednesday night's game against the Calgary Flames.

Beneath that cloth was a Predators blue-and-gold banner with former general manager David Poile's name and initials on it. The numbers 1997-2023, representing his years of service with the franchise, were below, hovering over a Predators logo.

On "David Poile Night," the man who spent 25 years running the hockey show in town, was honored with a banner celebrating his legacy, one that hangs next to Pekka Rinne's No. 35 and that of the "7th Man."

Poile also learned he would be the first inductee into the Preds "Golden Hall," a Hall of Fame to honor Predators of the past that will open next year. Predators CEO Sean Henry said Poile would be responsible for selecting inductees in the coming years.

Will a David Poile statue be next? Will he join Rinne in bronze?

Who knows.

That very well could happen some day for the winningest general manager in the history of the NHL
