Dickinson ends losing streak with home win

Jan. 26—DICKINSON — The Dickinson High girls basketball team snapped their month-long losing streak with a home victory against the Williston Coyotes. Their 73-56 win improves their record to 2-6 in the Western Dakota Association conference and 6-7 overall.

The Midgets demonstrated strong teamwork and rebounding skills, scoring 18 points off second chances and grabbing 14 offensive rebounds against the Coyotes. Despite Williston's persistent energy and high field goal percentage, Dickinson's aggressive defense and effective passing game, involving both upper and underclassmen, kept them in the lead.

Dickinson posted a respectable 40 percent field goal percentage, contending with Williston's sharpshooters who had a 45 percent average and outperformed in 3-pointers and free throws.

Senior Abbey Dutke's crucial three-pointers, contributing to her 12 points, were key in maintaining the lead, despite her fouling out in the second half. Junior Lauren Selle added 13 points and 4 assists, while senior Sadie Stevenson achieved a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, narrowly missing a triple-double with 9 steals.

Senior Jazmin Barry continued her consistent performance, scoring 9 points and grabbing 7 rebounds, exemplifying the team's effort and determination.

This victory reflects the team's resilience, and with less than half the season remaining, they are motivated to secure more wins before the postseason

The team will next play at home against Bismarck St. Mary's on Saturday at 12:45 p.m., followed by the boys varsity game at 2:30 p.m.
