Devin Moore grabs Florida's first interception of 2023 with pick of Tennessee's Joe Milton

There is good news and bad news from Florida's game vs. No. 9 Tennessee in The Swamp on Saturday.

The bad news is that it took the Gators till the third game of their 2023 college football schedule to nab their first interception of the year. The good news is, of course, that they grabbed their first interception of the year. Better news: The pick of Vols quarterback Joe Milton directly led to a touchdown that put the Gators up two scores over visiting Tennessee.

Here's a look at the play: Sophomore cornerback Devin Moore essentially fielded Milton's duck of a pass as if it were a punt — which was more a result of the Gators' pressure than Milton's own throw — before returning it inside the 20. The QB was forced into the poor throw thanks to tremendous pressure by the Florida pass rush, particularly lineman Desmond Watson:

As for the penalties, both were on Tennessee: The Gators declined a holding penalty, but an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty gave Florida the ball at the Vols' 9-yard line. Three plays later, Florida punched it in from a yard out to give the hometown crowd something to cheer for: a 19-7 lead over the ninth-ranked Volunteers.

Tennessee, of course, is still trying to earn its first victory over the Gators in the Swamp since 2003, a streak that has extended 20 long years for Volunteer fans — but not nearly long enough for Gators fans, assuredly. If Moore, Watson and the rest of the Gators team can keep making plays like the ones that led to that interception, the Vols will have to wait at least another two years.
