TUESDAY'S LOSS: Tarik Skubal, Reese Olson dominate, but Tigers strand too many runners

Game notes: Guess who's back?

After suffering a ruptured pulley in his left index finger, a rather unusual injury, Rodriguez is finally healthy again and ready to return to an MLB mound.

Rodriguez made one rehab start with Triple-A Toledo and for the most part, looked like his old self. He struck out four batters and walked just one while allowing three hits and no runs. The Mud Hens didn't feel the need to push the boundaries as he only threw 4⅓ innings, so it wouldn't be too surprising if the Tigers were careful with Rodriguez's pitch count in his return.

Before he got hurt, Rodriguez was looking like one of the best pitchers in the entire league and had an extremely impressive 2.13 ERA. He has an opt-out in his contract, which makes him a prime candidate to be dealt at the trade deadline. But we'll see if his value is still high enough to warrant parting with soon, and that starts with his return against the A's on Wednesday.
