Detroit Tigers' Eduardo Rodriguez on restricted list due to marital issue, per report
Detroit Tigers pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez was placed on the restricted list to deal with a marital issue, the New York Post's Jon Heyman reported Tuesday.
The Tigers announced they were placing Rodriguez on the list on Monday, citing "personal matters." Tigers general manager Al Avila and Rodriguez's agent, Gene Mato, declined The Post's request for additional comment on the situation.

While on the restricted list, Rodriguez won't be paid his salary or gain MLB service time and he doesn't count toward Detroit's 40-man roster.
The former Boston Red Sox left-hander was set to make $14 million this season after signing a five-year, $77 million deal with the Tigers in November. According to Heyman, Rodriguez figures to lose around $400,000 per start missed.
Rodriguez is 1-3 with 17 walks, 34 strikeouts and a 4.38 ERA in 39 innings this season before suffering a rib injury that landed him on the injured list on May 22.
He seemed close to return to Detroit's rotation soon after pitching four scoreless innings for Triple-A Toledo last Thursday as part of his rehab assignment.
"I knew he wasn't going to make his start, and he wasn't going to pitch in the minor leagues or the major leagues at this time. This was inevitable," Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Monday, though he added has been in contact with Rodriguez.
"I'm looking forward to his return, whenever that is. Continue to support him."
Rodriguez, 29, and his wife, Catherine, have a daughter, Annie, and a son, Ian.
