Sousa was designated for assignment by the White Sox and picked up off waivers by the Cincinnati Reds in February 2023, only to be traded to the Brewers for cash considerations in April 2023.

He pitched in two games for the Brewers.

In 2023, Sousa landed on the injured list June 8 with left shoulder nerve irritation and wasn't activated by the Brewers until Aug. 7. He spent more time on the injured list, from Aug. 9 until Saturday, with Triple-A Nashville.

Sousa flashed a 4.76 ERA with seven walks and 23 strikeouts over 17 innings in 16 appearances with Triple-A Nashville this season, both before and after the left shoulder nerve irritation.

He throws three pitches: 94.6 mph four-seam fastball, 87.5 mph slider and 93.5 mph sinker. His four-seam fastball and slider are his primary pitches.

Sousa pitched 20⅓ innings across 25 games with the White Sox in 2022. He logged an 8.41 ERA with 10 walks and 12 strikeouts. He made his MLB debut on April 8 against the Tigers at Comerica Park.

The White Sox drafted Sousa out of Virginia with the No. 288 overall pick (10th round) in the 2018 draft.
