Detroit Pistons can tie NBA record vs. Brooklyn Nets: Injury report, lineups, game info

The Detroit Pistons are on the brink of NBA history Saturday night and the only thing stopping them would be the Brooklyn Nets.

The Pistons can join the 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers (first season after LeBron James bolted) and the 2013-14 Philadelphia 76ers (in the first season of "The Process") for the single-season record of 26 consecutive losses.

The Pistons are in Year 4 of a rebuild. You can decide how this streak compares with the other two. As our columnist Shawn Windsor recently wrote, the Pistons don't even have hope and that's the absolute worst place to be in professional sports.

This is the first meeting between the Nets and Pistons this season. Third-year guard Cam Thomas leads the Nets at 24.1 points per game, forward Mikal Bridges scores 21.4 points and slender center Nic Claxton collects 11.7 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks, sixth in the NBA.

Third-year guard Cade Cunningham averages 22.4 points and 7.1 assists to lead the Pistons.

The Nets are one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the NBA, ranking top 5 in makes (14.6) and percentage (38.4%). That's a huge mismatch since the Pistons rank last in both categories offensively (9.7, 33%). Seven Nets players attempt at least five 3s per game and six make them well above the league average of 36.6%.

The Pistons rank 28th in offensive rating and 26th on defense. The Nets are 11th on offense and 22nd on defense.

The Pistons once again have a rest advantage playing a team on the second night of a back-to-back, as the Nets hosted Denver on Friday night. Brooklyn was outscored by seven in the second half despite seven players scoring in double figures in a 122-117 loss. The Nets have lost five straight.

The Nets and Pistons will rematch Tuesday in Detroit.
