THE EAST: Pistons in NBA play-in tournament isn't as far-fetched as you think

The Pistons enter their second year under general manager Troy Weaver and fourth season with coach Dwane Casey. The team last week traded Sekou Doumbouya, its last remaining player from the 2019-20 roster, making 2020 first-round pick Killian Hayes the longest-tenured Piston.

New additions include No. 1 overall draft pick Cade Cunningham and sweet-shooting big man Kelly Olynyk.

Win projections peg the Pistons in the mid-20s, above only Orlando in an improved Eastern Conference. Their last playoff appearance was a sweep to Milwaukee in 2019; the franchise has not won a playoff game since 2008, a streak of 14 consecutive losses and an NBA record.
