Detroit Lions to host winner of Buccaneers vs. Eagles game on Sunday

For the first time since 1992, the Detroit Lions have advanced in the NFL playoffs after holding off the Los Angeles Rams late for a 24-23 win and will return for a second home game at Ford Field next week.

Immediately after the Lions secured the franchise's first playoff victory in three decades, the NFL announced they will host the Sunday afternoon game in next weekend's divisional round.

The game will be played at 3 p.m. at Ford Field and will be televised again on NBC. The Lions drew the first game of the Sunday doubleheader, with either the Kansas City Chiefs playing the Buffalo Bills or the Pittsburgh Steelers playing the Baltimore Ravens.

Oddly enough, the Lions have a divisional foe to thank for getting to host a second playoff game. The No. 7 seed Green Bay Packers took down the No. 2 seed Dallas Cowboys in the first game on Sunday, meaning Detroit was the second-highest seed in the NFC remaining and will therefore host another game after advancing.

The Lions have not played the Eagles yet this season but took down the Buccaneers on the road in Week 6.

The Packers advanced to play the No. 1 seed San Francisco 49ers, who had a bye this week, on Saturday night.

If the Lions can win another playoff game, they will play in the NFC championship at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 28.
