Detroit City FC beats MLS team Columbus Crew, 2-1, in historic win in U.S. Open Cup

The Detroit City FC made history on Tuesday night in Hamtramck.

In Le Rouge's first-ever game against a Major League Soccer team, DCFC defeated the Columbus Crew, 2-1, at Keyworth Stadium.

The match was a part of the third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, a tournament that dates back over 100 years and includes all pro and amateur teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer.

Maxi Rodriguez scored twice for DCFC, in the 65th and 85th minutes.

Detroit City FC is in its first year as a fully professional team and in its inaugural season in the USL Championship league.
