Derrick Lewis strips shorts, talks Trump, fascinates Twitter with post-fight interview

Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov got top billing at UFC 229, but Derrick Lewis stole the show.

The UFC’s No. 2-ranked heavyweight contender pulled off a stunner of a knockout over Alexander Volkov in the final seconds of the fight after looking done in the first round.

He followed up by taking off his shorts in the ring and delivering one of the best post-fight interviews the UFC has ever seen.

Asked why he took his shorts off, his explanation to interviewer Joe Rogan was simple.

“My balls was hot,” Lewis said.

Asked about the win, Lewis credited President Donald Trump as his inspiration in an expletive-laden response.

“Before the fight, Donald Trump called me and said I gotta knock this Russian [expletive] out, cause they’re making him look bad on the news.”

All of this, of course, caught the attention of Twitter.
