Can D'Angelo Russell be trusted in fantasy?

Jonas Nader examines D'Angelo Russell early-season numbers and his lack of fantasy production, highlighting why fantasy managers should be cautious with the 26-year-old moving forward.

JONAS NADER: D'Angelo Russell is off to a shaky start to the season for Minnesota. Through the first 10 games, Russell is only averaging 13.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.5 triples on 38% shooting and 75% from the line. And it's not just accounting stats that have been alarming. Minnesota's offensive rating plummets when Russell is on the court.

And the pick and roll partnership with Rudy Gobert has lacked chemistry, to say the least. Russell's shot mechanics also look way off compared to previous years. And it doesn't really make sense to get him going with more pick and rolls either since that's an area where Anthony Edwards wants to take a leap in.

Russell was benched in the playoffs last season and the Timberwolves have yet to have serious contract extension talks. So don't be surprised if Russell is sent packing elsewhere if he doesn't turn things around soon. And if you have him in your fantasy league, you should be panicking right now, to say the least.
