Damian Lillard says trade to Brooklyn Nets ‘wouldn’t be too bad’

When it comes to the Brooklyn Nets, one of the main talking points that has come up is what star will Brooklyn be trading for. The main player that has been linked to the Nets if they are to pull off a trade is Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard.

Lillard is in an interesting position this offseason as it’s uncertain whether he will be on Portland’s roster at the start of the 2023-24 season in late October. While Lillard hasn’t necessarily asked for a trade at this point, he has made it clear that he is not in favor of being part of a rebuild so if the Trail Blazers decide to go that route, it’s safe to say that Portland would have to trade Lillard at some point.

Once Lillard showed up for Game 3 of Brooklyn’s first-round playoff series against the Philadelphia 76ers, he and the Nets were forever linked in mock trades. While it’s assumed that Brooklyn would want to trade for Lillard, it hasn’t been discussed whether Lillard would want to play for the Nets. Lillard broke the silence on that topic as a guest on Showtime Sports’ The Last Stand show:

“Brooklyn is an obvious one (team that Lillard wouldn’t mind being traded to). Brooklyn is another obvious one because Mikal Bridges is my dog too.”
