Dalvin Cook offered ex-girlfriend $1 million to get rid of abuse claims, per court filing

Free agent running back Dalvin Cook offered $1 million to a former girlfriend to get him cleared of domestic violence claims against the former Minnesota Vikings player, according to a document filed in Dakota County District Court, and obtained by the Minnesota Star-Tribune.

Cook had requested that his testimony be barred, and the attorney for Gracelyn Trimble, Cook's accuser, filed the new document after Cook offered two different settlement offers of $800,000 and then $1 million. The trial against Cook is scheduled for next year, with a discussion concerning the new filing set for Monday.

According to the report, the $800,000 cash offer came with a mandate that Trimble deny the abuse accusation via a sworn affidavit. The $1 million offer came with a requirement that the National Football League receive a letter from Trimble stating that Cook did nothing wrong.

"This does not pass the smell test and can and should be admissible as evidence of Cook's consciousness of guilt," the document read before it was sealed by a county judge.

Cook was sued in November 2021 with Trimble alleging that Cook physically abused her, caused a concussion, and held her hostage at his residence in a Minneapolis suburb.

Cook then filed a countersuit claiming defamation and fraud.

The 27-year-old Cook played for the Vikings for six seasons before being released last month.
