Daily fantasy picks for the 2022 U.S. Open
Yahoo fantasy analyst Scott Pianowski offers a top-priced, mid-tier and value DFS plays for the season's third major from The Country Club in Brookline, Mass.

SCOTT PIANOWSKI: It's the third golf major of the year, US Open. Brookline, the country Club,. And. I'm Scott Pianowski . You need some help with the DFS lineup, I'll give you some picks and pans I'll be using on my sheets and maybe they can help you make some money this week.
So who am I paying up for? I'm paying up for Xander Schauffele, $44. This guy loves the US Open. He's been in five US Opens, never worse in seventh, got a bunch of top tens in majors. I think it's a matter of time before Xander breaks through, and because he hasn't won that major yet, I don't think he'll be trampled in play. A lot of people are going to be playing Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy. They're in really good form right now, and they're not bad picks.
But I think you'll differentiate yourself a little bit more with Schauffele, and he's got a very balanced statistical profile, which I think will fare well at a course that a lot of people don't know. I think he's excellent scrambler, these are small greens. Schauffele, a great pick for whatever you want to do with them this week, certainly a DFS staple for me.
Looking for a mid-tier value? How about Matthew Fitzpatrick at $38? Now, he's somebody who's actually played this course and succeeded. He won the 2013 US Amateur at the Country Club, so he knows this track, he knows the small greens. And he's done well on US Opens setups before, a couple of top 12 finishes, doesn't have a major yet. I like guys to break through, maybe, as being DFS values for that first major, has a profile that can succeed here.
Other guys in the thirties, I like Shane Lowry. Excellent chipper of the golf ball, has the disposition for a US Open. Cameron Young, one of the best rookie golfers, having a tremendous season. And Corey Conners, just an excellent ball striker. A little bit disappointing at the Canadian Open. I think he'll make amends this week as well.
How about a value play? Now, this guy is going to get a lot of picks this week. But at $21, I got to take Davis Riley. He's been in the top 13, and his last five tournaments, that includes the PGA Championship. So the bright lights of a major do not seem to bother Riley at all. He's in great form, I think he's just mispriced. And you have to take the free square, a lot of people are gonna do it. Doesn't mean it's wrong, though.
Now what about big names I'm fading? Sam Burns, excellent player. He's won a couple of times this year, stared down Scottie Scheffler a few weeks ago, but he still hasn't won a major. He only has one top 25 in majors, and at 43 dollars, that's a pretty expectant price, I won't be punching Burns this week.
Dustin Johnson, not really in good form. He's kind of in the eye of the storm right now for jumping tours. I don't think maybe his mindset is gonna be right for this tournament and major bag is a little bit light. I know he won the Masters the year they had it in the fall. He does have one US Open to his credit as well. But I don't think we're getting DJ in form. He's in the 40s for pricing, that doesn't make sense for me. He won't be on my DFS sheet this week.
