D1 Patriots beat Keyser in battle of unbeatens, rout Southern

Oct. 4—KEYSER, W.Va. — The Personal Best/AES/Ledo Pizza Patriots scored in all four quarters and forced three turnovers to rout Keyser, 26-0, in a battle of unbeatens on Sunday in Cumberland Area Youth Football League action.

The Patriots improved to 6-0 with the win and play the Braddock Warriors in the Little Homecoming game on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Greenway Avenue Stadium. A victory would give the Patriots the CAYFL Division 1 regular-season title.

The Division 2 Patriots-Braddock game is Sunday at 4 p.m.

Against Keyser, the Patriots led 6-0 after the first quarter, 12-0 at the half and 20-0 entering the fourth.

Isaiah Welsh had nine carries for 85 yards, scoring a two-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Levi House ran for a three-yard touchdown during the first quarter and completed a 40-yard touchdown pass to Channing Logsdon in the third period.

Davon Robinson toted the rock three times for 50 yards and a 38-yard second-quarter touchdown scamper.

Logsdon intercepted a pass and Gabe Simmons and Jackson Spangler recovered fumbles.

AJ Adams made a team-high eight tackles. Jones made seven stops, and Roy Easterling, Matt Coleman, Spangler, Marquis Trimble, Jachai St. Surin and Welsh recorded five tackles apiece.

Patiots 52, Southern 3

CUMBERLAND — House passed for 175 yards and scored four total touchdowns to guide the Personal Best/AES/Ledo Pizza Patriots past Southern two weekends ago at Greenway Avenue Stadium.

House completed all five of his passes, three going for touchdowns, and had two carries for 17 yards and another score.

Logsdon toted the ball two times for 35 yards and a TD and caught two balls for 107 yards and a score, George had two carries for 60 yards and a touchdown, Robinson ran it two times for 85 yards and a score, St. Surin caught an 18-yard touchdown pass, Welsh had four runs for 35 yards and a score, and Jones made 5 of 7 extra points.

The Patriots struck first when House completed a 42-yard score to Logsdon in the first quarter. House ran in a 29-yard touchdown next, followed by a 55-yard touchdown run to cap a 22-0 first period in favor of the Patiots.

The Patriots added two more touchdowns in the second quarter: An 18-yard touchdown pass from House to St. Surin and a 65-yard TD toss from House to Logsdon.

Southern made a 36-3 Patriots at the half after a 30-yard field goal off the foot of Cole Parks.

The Patriots tacked on two more touchdowns in the third quarter. Welsh ran in a seven-yard score, and Robinson cruised 55 yards to the house on the ground.

Adams tallied a team-high eight tackles. St. Surin, Welsh and Caden Simpson made seven stops each. Logsdon, Matt Coleman, George, House, Robinson, Tyler Easton, Brett Fisher, Triton Waltemire and Carson Rose came up with five tackles apiece.

Southern's offensive standout was Parks, and its top defensive player was Aaron Airriyn.
