Cross country: Pirates compete in Ted Fox Memorial Invitational

Sep. 26—BEDFORD — The Greensburg cross country team traveled to Bedford North Lawrence for the annual Ted Fox Memorial Invitational Saturday.

For the boys, Floyd Central ran away with the team title with 27 points. Center Grove was second with 63.

The Pirates finished eight and were led by fifth place finisher TJ Gorman with a time of 16:32. Cameron Schwartz finished in 18:20. Quinton Walker finished in 18:31. Zach Blodgett cross the line in 18:45. Dante Hess ran a 19:13. Chase Tekulve finished in 20:12. Malakai Nicolaides finished in 20:21. Xavier Wade ran a 24:02.

For the girls, Center Grove cruised to the title with 32. Floyd Central was second with 62.

The Lady Pirates finished 10th overall and were led by Alaina Bedel in ninth place with a time of 20:36. Victoria Gauck crossed the line in 22:29. Allyson Foster finished in 23:25. Kaley Welsh ran a 25:20. Allison Duncan finished in 26:10. Addison Meyer crossed in 27:00 and Allison Kunze finished in 27:23. Gwyneth Blair ran a 27:43. Addyson Dolan finished in 29:53 and Madalynn Brewsaugh finished in 31:51.

South Decatur

HOPE — South Decatur competed in the Hauser Heritage Days Invitational Saturday.

The Lady Cougars finished second.

For South, Clair Schoettmer was 15th in 25:12.4. Brayley Sundal was 19th in 26:58.7. In 20th was Mary Schwering with a time of 27:02.8. Brooklyn Ortman was 22nd in 27:44.8. Brianna Benefiel was 24th in 27:53.8 and Andrea Brogan crossed 28th in 28:21.8.

South finished fifth for the boys.

For the Cougars, Donovan Hale led the way in eighth in 18:36.7.

Nicholas Hunter finished in the Top 10 with a 10th place time of 18:38.4. Conner Newby placed 19th in 19:40.6. Logan Wilkinson was 35th in 20:49.3 and Keaton Troutman was 45th in 23:20.5.

Connersville Invitational

CONNERSVILLE — Connersville hosted 12 other teams for its annual invitational Saturday.

Individual awards were given to the top 25 and Batesville had 12 runners place in the top 25 and both the boys and the girls placed runner-up overall.

The Bulldogs raced first and were led by Jake Chapman placing fourth (17:19). Others placing in the top 25 were Isaac Trossman seventh, Cannon Clark 12th, Ethan Rahschulte 18th, Benjamin Adams 22nd and Jaden Basler 23rd. Just missing out in the top 25 and finishing out the varsity seven for Batesville was Deev Ranka who placed 27th.The boys finished second behind Richmond 33-63, with Northeastern in third with 87 points.

On the girls side, the Lady Bulldogs also had six runners placing in the top 25 with Lexiyne Harris leading the way for Batesville placing sixth (21:02). Others finishing in the top 25 were Megan Allgeier 11th, Sam Adams 14th, Kaylie Raver 17th, Bayleigh Demaree 18th and Charlotte Trossman 19th. Finishing out the top seven varsity spots was Isabel Raab placing 30th. The girls also placed in 2nd as a team behind East Central, 21-66, with Centerville in 3rd with 93 points.

Rushville took fourth in both races.

For the Lady Lions, Josie Corn led the way in eighth with a time of 21:25.

Madison Hankins was 20th in 23:23 and Melaney Mahan was 21st in 23:37. Other times for Rushville included Mia Norvell 24:47, Kendra Jacobs 24:55, Layla Denney 25:23 and Jorja Ellis 25:31. For the junior varsity, Josie Newhouse ran a 25:48 and Jentri Wallace a 27:37.

For the Lions, Charlie Sterrett led the way in 15th with a time of 18:19. Hunter Parmerlee was 16th in 18:39. Logan Jacobs took 21st in 18:51. Other times included Isaac Schelle 19:12, Dustin King 19:18, Kyle Jacobs 19:46, Tanner Ash 20:52, Jacob Branson 21:16, Ty Ellis 23:51 and Jackson Basturk 23:56.

For the North Decatur, the Chargers were led by Eli Weisenbach, crossing the line in 20:10. Logan O'Dell and Harper Gunn followed close behind and had nice runs on a tough course. According to Coach Nobbe, Noah Weisenbach, Adam Wade and Jackson White all ran solid races Saturday while Sam Cathey, Jake Demitt, and Teagan Striecker all put together a tremendous effort.

The Lady Chargers were lead by Dorothy Robbins and Jewel Verseman. According to Coach Nobbe, both putting together nice runs on a tough course. Sophomores Olivia Reisman and Lauren Miller crossed the line after Robbins and Verseman to help score for the Lady Chargers. Freshman Emerson Gunn, Madison Rohls and Junior Cecilia Barber rounded at the scoring for the Lady Chargers.
