Cowboys QB Prescott providing meals for homeless during record-low Texas temps

The North Texas area has been hit with record-low temperatures over the past week. Winter storms have caused power outages, water pipes to burst, and the temporary closing of schools, restaurants, and grocery stores.

Times like these are difficult for everyone, but particularly those without food and shelter. Dak Prescott, the face of the Dallas Cowboys, is doing his part to assist the less fortunate during this tough stretch. Along with actor Matthew McConaughey, Prescott has provided meals for nearly 1,000 homeless people for a Dallas-based non-profit organization called OurCalling.

OurCalling is a faith-based organization that leads the homeless to live a healthy and sustainable lifestyle by building lasting relationships and making disciples on the streets. According to the organization’s website, there’s been a 269% increase in unsheltered homelessness in the Dallas area over the past three years. With the arctic temperatures that have hit the city lately, the efforts of Prescott and McConaughey will provide some relief, even if only temporary, for plenty of people that are in need.

It’s no secret Prescott is entering his third round of negotiations with the Cowboys front office on a long-term contract. Nonetheless, he hasn’t let that stop him from making a difference in the community and continuing his reputation as an outstanding human being on top of being a great football player.
