Just two weeks after the Crew signed homegrown talent Taha Habroune to a first team contract, the club has extended the contract of another homegrown talent, midfielder Sean Zawadzki.

With two seasons under his belt appearing for Columbus' first team, Zawadzki's contract has been extended through 2027. Back in December, when the Crew were making their end of season roster decisions, they originally had picked up Zawaski's 2024 option.

"It's the team I've supported my whole life, and from a young age, the team I grew up playing for," Zawadzki said in a statement. "To be able to continue playing for the Crew is an amazing feeling."

Growing up about two hours away in Olmstead Falls, Ohio, Zawadzki started representing the Crew Academy in 2015. Following his collegiate career at Georgetown University from 2018-21, the midfielder returned to Columbus as a homegrown player in 2022, the year he helped Crew 2 win the inaugural MLS Next Cup championship.

Zawadzki's extension comes on the heels of the 23-year-old earning his first US men's national team cap on January 20 in a friendly against Slovenia.
