What are the Colts odds to make the playoffs?

The Indianapolis Colts have stamped themselves a contender in the AFC South despite repeated injuries to quarterback Anthony Richardson.

If the season ended today, the Colts would be the fifth seed in the AFC playoffs, losing the tiebreaker atop the AFC South due to their season-opening loss to Jacksonville. The teams play again next week with the division lead on the line.

Since the NFL went to a 14-team playoff system in 2020, 50% -- 11 of 22 -- of the team that start 3-2 have made the playoffs.

Cleveland (2-2) and the L.A. Chargers (2-2) are on byes this week, another factor in it being silly to put too much stock in tiebreakers after five games, but here are the current AFC playoff standings:

AFC Playoff Standings

  1. Kansas City (4-1): Conference tiebreaker over MIami.

  2. Miami (4-1)

  3. Pittsburgh (3-2): Conference tiebreaker over Jacksonville.

  4. Jacksonville (3-2): Head-to-head tiebreaker over the Colts.

  5. Indianapolis (3-2): Head-to-head tiebreaker over Baltimore, conference tiebreaker over Buffalo.

  6. Baltimore (3-2): Conference tiebreaker over Buffalo.

  7. Buffalo (3-2)
