Colts' 2024 opponents are set
The Indianapolis Colts have eight home games and nine road games for the 2024 NFL season. They will play their AFC South opponents twice each, and each team from the AFC East and NFC North. They will also play other opponents with similar 2023 division finishes.
The Colts will have seven games against teams that made the 2023 playoffs (Houston twice, Buffalo, Miami, Detroit, Pittsburgh and Green Bay).
The 2024 NFL schedule will be released in the spring.
AFC South opponents
The Indianapolis Colts will play these teams at home and away.
Houston Texans (10-7): The teams split in the 2023 season, each winning on the road. The Colts won 31-20 in Week 2, and the Texans eliminated the Colts 23-19 in the season finale. Houston won the AFC South behind first-year coach Demeco Ryans and rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud.
Jacksonville Jaguars (9-8): The Colts continue to have trouble against the Jaguars, losing both matchups early in the season (31-21 in Indianapolis in the season opener and 37-20 in Jacksonville in Week 6). The Jaguars appeared to be in control of the division but faded out of the playoff race in the closing weeks. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence will be in his fourth season and coach Doug Pederson his third.
Tennessee Titans (6-11): The Colts swept the Titans, winning in Week 5 in Indianapolis (23-16) and Week 13 in Nashville (31-28, OT). Tennessee spoiled Jacksonville's season by beating the Jaguars in Week 18. Will Levis will likely be QB1 in 2024, and there are questions over whether coach Mike Vrabel will be back for a seventh season.
Colts 2024 home opponents
Buffalo Bills (11-6): Buffalo had an up-and-down season but a late-season rally yielded the AFC East title. Despite what other changes may be in store, Josh Allen will be the Bills' quarterback.
Miami Dolphins (11-6): The Dolphins, who made the AFC playoffs as a wild card, promise to bring the speed to Lucas Oil Stadium, with Tua Tagovaiola passing to Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. And coach Mike McDaniel should offer unusual insights during game week.
Chicago Bears (7-10): Chicago has interesting decisions to make concerning its coach (former Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus), quarterback (Justin Fields) and the 2024 NFL Draft (holding the No. 1 overall pick). The offseason promises to be eventful.
Detroit Lions (12-5): The Lions had a resurgent season that resulted in the NFC North title. Coach Dan Campbell and quarterback Jared Goff have made a lot of fans in Detroit.
Pittsburgh Steelers (10-7): Death, taxes and coach Mike Tomlin finishing with a winning record. The Steelers are unsettled at quarterback (Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky, Mason Rudolph), but they find ways to compete and made the AFC playoffs. The Colts beat Pittsburgh 30-13 in 2023.
Colts 2024 away opponents
Green Bay Packers (9-8): Can Jordan Love put together a Packers career similar to his predecessors, Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers? That will be a difficult task, but he left no question that he's QB1 in Green Bay, which made the NFC playoffs as a wild card.
Minnesota Vikings (7-10): All the breaks that went Minnesota's way in 2022 seemed to go the other way in 2023. Quarterback Kirk Cousins was knocked out with an injury and Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell started three other QBs along the way.
New England Patriots (4-13): Who knows what the 2024 Patriots will look like. Quarterbacks Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe fizzled and coach Bill Belichick's long run may end. The Colts beat the Patriots 10-6 in Germany in 2023.
New York Jets (7-10): Quarterback Aaron Rodgers swears he will be back and as good as ever at age 40 after his 2023 season ended after just four plays with an Achilles injury. Will Robert Saleh still be coach? Will Nathaniel Hackett still be the offensive coordinator?
New York Giants (6-11): The Giants owe quarterback Daniel Jones a lot of money, but he had uneven performance before a season-ending ACL injury. Tommy Devito and Tyrod Taylor also started at QB in 2023. Brian Daboll was the 2022 NFL Coach of the Year but came under fire in '23.
Denver Broncos (8-9): The Broncos started terribly, surged into playoff contention then fizzled as the disconnect between coach Sean Payton and quarterback Russell Wilson showed. Payton will be around in 2024, but likely not Wilson.
