WOMEN'S HOCKEY

CLARKSON 3, PRINCETON 2 (2 OT)

Alexie Guay knocked in a rebound for the winning goal 6:32 into the second overtime period to give the Golden Knights a 1-0 series lead against the Tigers in the ECAC quarterfinals at Cheel Arena in Potsdam.

Sena Catterall intercepted an attempted clearing shot and moved toward the goal on a 4-on-3 break, sending a shot on goalie Jennifer Olnowich. The rebound found Guay's stick in the slot for the decisive goal.

Clarkson (30-3-1) will attempt to clinch the series with a 3 p.m. game today at Cheel. A Princeton win would send the quarterfinal to a third game on Sunday.

The Golden Knights thwarted a Princeton victory by sending the game into overtime on a goal by Nicole Gosling with less than 90 seconds left. Gosling scored off a screen from Dominique Petrie with Clarkson skating with an extra attacker.

Princeton (14-11-6) had gone ahead 2-1 on a second-period goal by Kate Monihan but could not get around the Clarkson defense in the third, which killed off a 5-on-3 power play at one point.
