College football transfer portal reopens on April 15, and USC must pounce

The 2022 college football transfer portal’s spring window opened on May 1. Jordan Addison came to USC in that spring window. This year, the spring portal window has been moved up a few weeks to April 15. The spring portal window opens on the same day that USC holds its spring football game.

Maybe some defensive linemen will play especially well in the spring game, but USC can’t count on that. Moreover, it can’t count on the belief that it has enough quality defensive linemen right now. The Trojans badly need to beef up their defensive line with more reinforcements. They need to enter this season knowing they can get production from all four spots on their defensive line, or at least three of the four. In 2022, Tuli Tuipulotu seemed to be on an island. If he didn’t make a play, others weren’t always there to help him out. Occasionally, Tuli received help, but not with the consistency USC needed.

USC really needs to get more defensive linemen in this spring transfer portal window. Making the College Football Playoff requires a substantial upgrade at this position group.
