Cleveland Browns vs Houston Texans set for Saturday wild card game

Browns fans know the place.

For those not watching the Cincinnati Bengals vivisect the Browns backups 31-14 in the regular-season finale, they will face the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium.

And they learned the time and who would air the game later in the day. The Browns-Texans matchup will air on NBC (WKYC Channel 3) at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The teams avoided being sacrificed to the perceived future via streaming. Peacock, the streaming service owned by Comcast, bought exclusive rights to one wild card game this past spring for approximately $110 million. For their investment, they received the Green Bay Packers-Dallas Cowboys matchup. A subscription will be needed to watch it outside of those team’s home markets.

It means that locally some Browns fans are breathing a sigh of relief.

With the game on Peacock, it would have been broadcast locally on WKYC (Channel 3). However, subscribers to DirecTV, DirecTV Stream and U-verse, may have found themselves blacked out.

The station’s owner, TEGNA, has been locked in a carriage dispute for more than a month, and the station has gone dark on those services.

There may be some hope, however, as there have been reports that DirecTV has been experimenting with the possibility of carrying the network television feed.
