Clemson LB, Trotter Jr., named to Walter Camp Watchlist

Junior linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. has been named to the Walter Camp Award watchlist for the best overall College Football Player.

Trotter is now part of a list of 44 players, including six defensive players. Other Atlantic Coast Conference players on the list are Verse, Jordan Travis from Florida State, and Drake Maye from North Carolina.

Last season, Trotter was a second-team All-American and played a vital role in Clemson’s formidable defense. He topped the team in tackles, tackles for loss, and was tied for the most sacks. Trotter has been named to three preseason watchlists: the Bronko Nagurski, Butkus, and this latest one. Trotter’s father, Jeremiah Trotter Sr., is an NFL legend who played for 11 seasons and earned four All-Pro selections.

Since 1967, no player from Clemson has won the Walter Camp Award. Deshaun Watson was a finalist in 2016, and Trevor Lawerence was a finalist in 2020.
