Midnight arrived early, Rapunzel lost half her hair to premature baldness and the tortoise pulled a hamstring just 10 yards from the finish line.

In other words, Oral Roberts University's Cinderella run through the NCAA Baseball College World Series ended in tatters with a busted glass slipper.

But, what a run it was!

The amazing Golden Eagles — who are coached by Ryan Folmar — soared to a 32-4 record (.889) in their final 36 games, and advanced all the way to the CWS consolation semifinals before being eliminated Tuesday by TCU, 6-1.

Bartlesville High graduate Jakob Hall pumped plenty of voltage into ORU's charge, which included the Golden Eagles' first CWS appearance in 45 years.

Hall started on the mound in four postseason games and earned the winning decision in one of them. The Golden Eagles won three of the four postseason games that Hall started. He didn't play in Tuesday's season-ending loss.

ORU finished with a 52-14 mark overall.

Note: A follow-up report is planned in Thursday's sports pages.
