- Christmas Eve was a big day for Mavericks center Christian Wood, as that was the day he became eligible to sign a contract extension scored $77 million over 4 years. Nothing has been done on that front. And of greater importance for Wood and the Mavericks has been his move into the starting lineup.

Providing sixth-round value in 9-cat formats for the season, he's been a top-10 player over the last three weeks. In 10 appearances, Wood is averaging 18.9 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.8 steals, 2.6 blocks, and 2.5 3-pointers in nearly 32-minutes per game. Shooting 51.9% from the field and 77.4% from the foul line.

The biggest concern regarding Wood was his defensive performance. And he's made a concerted effort to improve on that end of the floor. With his future in Dallas still undecided, production to this level will only bolster Wood's case for a contract extension.
