Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes voted No. 8 in NFL Top 100 Players list of 2022

Last year, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ peers voted him into the No. 1 spot in the NFL Top 100 Players list. It was a bit of redemption after he was voted into the No. 4 spot after his Super Bowl LIV-winning campaign. This year, Mahomes was voted in as the No. 8 player in the NFL’s Top 100 Players list of 2022.

Mahomes is the third Chiefs player to appear on the list, following teammates Travis Kelce and Chris Jones. It marks his fourth consecutive selection to the list, including his fourth year in the top 10. It’s the first time he’s been ranked outside of the top 5 during his career. Mahomes comes in behind Bucs QB Tom Brady and Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, but ahead of Bills QB Josh Allen.

Mahomes is coming off of a season that marked his fourth straight AFC title game appearance. 2021 was a struggle at times for Mahomes with some bad interception luck resulting in his career-high of 13 interceptions in a single season, but he still threw for over 4,800 yards with 37 regular-season touchdown passes.

“Mahomes I think is kind of the top tier at this point,” Chargers DE Joey Bosa said.

There are a lot of questions about Mahomes heading into the 2022 NFL season with Tyreek Hill’s trade to Miami, but through two preseason games, he’s been flawless. He led three consecutive touchdown drives, connecting with a number of his new targets in the process.

“He’s already solidified himself as a Hall of Fame quarterback,” Browns CB Denzel Ward said of Mahomes.
