Chiefs players react to Marquez Valdes-Scantling signing

The Kansas City Chiefs have a new receiver in town.

The Chiefs signed former Green Bay Packers WR Marques Valdes-Scantling on a three-year deal on Thursday. The former fifth-round draft pick comes to Kansas City after racking up over 2,000 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns in the last four seasons with Green Bay.

While Chiefs Kingdom is still dealing with the bittersweetness of saying goodbye to Tyreek Hill, some of Valdes-Scantling’s newest teammates were quite excited about the news of his arrival. The first player to react was Chiefs LB Willie Gay Jr., who spouted praise for GM Brett Veach before retweeting the news that Valdes-Scantling had signed.

“Veach the man,” he wrote, followed by some choice emojis.

The most important reaction, however, came from Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes. He said goodbye to Hill and hello to Valdes-Scantling in a matter of hours, but he seemed pumped to welcome his new speedy 6-foot 4 and 205-pound wideout on Twitter.

“Let’s get it! #ChiefsKingdom,” he wrote.

If Mahomes is happy, you can rest assured that Chiefs Kingdom will be happy too. It just might take until September, when they first play a meaningful game together, for everyone to come around to it.
