Chiefs ink former Raiders CB Amerson

The Kansas City Chiefs announced the signing of free-agent cornerback David Amerson on Friday.

The deal is for one year and $2.25 million in base salary, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport adds that Amerson could make up to $6 million on the pact.

Amerson was released midway through his four-year contract earlier this month by the Oakland Raiders, who saved $21 million against the salary cap over the next three seasons by making the move.

Amerson started six games in 2017, missing the Raiders' final eight contests with a foot injury. The 26-year-old enjoyed a career season in 2015, totaling 25 passes defensed and four interceptions for Oakland that season.

Amerson was a second-round pick by the Washington Redskins in the 2013 draft. He joined the Raiders on a waiver claim in 2015.
