Chiefs CB Bashaud Breeland clears NFL concussion protocols
The Kansas City Chiefs got some more good news on Saturday ahead of the AFC Championship Game against the Buffalo Bills.
Both players who were in the NFL’s concussion protocol, Patrick Mahomes and Bashaud Breeland, have been cleared to play in Sunday’s AFC title game. The Chiefs announced that Breeland, who didn’t clear the protocol yesterday when Mahomes did, has officially cleared the NFL’s concussion protocols.
Breeland was listed as questionable in the final injury report, but will no longer carry a game status designation according to the announcement. That means the starting right cornerback for Kansas City will be good to play on Sunday.

This puts the Chiefs in a much better position in terms of their cornerback depth. It allows L’Jarius Sneed to play in the slot with Charvarius Ward at the left cornerback spot and Breeland on the right side. It also allows Tyrann Mathieu to roam instead of sliding into the slot.
We still await word on the status of Rashad Fenton, but this is good news regarding the health of the secondary heading into a game where the opponent looks poised to throw the ball early and often.
