All proceeds from the event will go the South Bend Cubs Foundation, which is “committed to supporting players in fulfilling their potential by providing intensive instruction and an opportunity to compete at a high level of play where discipline, teamwork, and good sportsmanship are expected,” per the foundation’s website.

Coomer was an eight-year MLB player, including one season with the Chicago Cubs. He was also a 1999 All-Star selection with the Minnesota Twins.

Since retiring, Coomer has had a successful broadcasting career. He has been the Cubs radio analyst since 2014, working alongside Hall of Fame play-by-play voice, Pat Hughes, to call some of the most iconic moments in franchise history, including the 2016 World Series win over Cleveland.
