Check out the top teams, results of the OHSAA DI, DIII regional track meets

The OHSAA's Division I and III track and field completed on Friday, May 26, sending athletes to the final tournament of the season with a chance to return home as state champions. The Division II Region 8 tournament at Piqua concludes on Saturday.

The top four individual or relay teams in each event automatically qualify for the state tournament on June 2 and 3 at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium at Ohio State.

Mason girls dominate regional standings

The Mason Comets have had some dominating track and field tournament wins by big margins this season and that didn't change in the Division I regional finals.

The Comets cruised to the regional title with 117 points scored, more than double the 52 points scored by regional runner-up Huber Heights Wayne. Mason's score was aided by its 11 top-three placers, including four individual champions. Abby Love won the 100-meter dash, Andrea Burke took first in the shot put and the Comets took first in the 4-x-100-meter relay and the 4-x-800-meter relay.

Loveland, St. Xavier and Moeller finish top 5

Unlike in the girls Division I regional, in which Mason lapped the field, just eight points separated regional champion Centerville from fourth-place finishing Moeller.

Centerville's top finish came with 51 points scored, followed closely by last season's third-place state finisher Loveland with 48, St. Xavier with 44 and Moeller with 43. Beavercreek rounded out the top five with 37.50 points scored.

Loveland had individual championships from Cayden Dyer in the 1,600-meter run and freshman Tyler Schwinn in the high jump.

The quick pace was set early as La Salle's Koy Beasley won the 100-meter dash with a 10.58 time, outpacing top-prelim timer Tennel Bryant's 10.67.

Finneytown girls place 9th, Cincinnati Christian and Summit Country Day boys tie for 10th

In the Division III regional, the Finneytown girls were the highest local placer, finishing in ninth with 23 points scored. Senior Nijah Robinson of Finneytown finished third in the 100- and 200-meter races, though she finished first in the preliminary run of the 100.

The Seven Hills 4x200 relay team finished in third in regionals while advancing to the state meet. Relay members include Amelia Schnirring, Claire Bachelder, Margret Schnirring and Callie Drew.

In the boys race, both Cincinnati Christian and Summit Country Day scored 25 points to finish in a tie for 10th place overall. Cincinnati Christian's Brandon Rodgers was the lone local individual champion in Division III, winning the 400-meter dash in 49.88.

The Minster girls scored 88 points to claim the title while Marion Local's boys finished in first with 72 points.
