Channing Tatum will star in and produce a yet-to-be-titled crime thriller for Sony. Set in the late 1970s, the film is based on what has been termed an inspirational true story about an average family man working as a cop, who puts everything on the line by going undercover to catch the most powerful crime boss in the country.

The film's other producers include Tatum collaborator Reid Carolin (Magic Mike) and Chicago producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. Writer Kristin Gore (War Story), who previously worked with Zadan and Meron on the Academy Awards, will pen the script.

This is just one of many projects Tatum has on tap. Three of his films—22 Jump Street, Jupiter Ascending and Foxcatcher—premiere later this year, and he will shoot the sequel to Magic Mike, which he co-wrote, this fall. Not only is Tatum busy, he's tackling a wide range of genres both in front of and behind the camera.
