Texas A&M softball was the final team to receive a top-16 seed in the NCAA Tournament, allowing the Aggies to host the College Station Regional this weekend on their path toward the Women's College World Series.

Texas A&M (40-13, 15-9 SEC) opens up vs. Albany (33-12, 14-6 American East) in the first round of the regional, which starts on Friday. The Aggies and Great Danes play during the back half of the day at 5:30 p.m. CT. Texas A&M earned the final hosting seed despite closing the season with four losses in its final five games.

The Aggies are coming off a loss to eventual SEC Tournament champion Florida — their fourth loss to the Gators this season — but did pick up an SEC Tournament victory against South Carolina. Texas A&M has been a dominant 24-2 at home this season. Trinity Cannon has been one of the top hitters in the nation with a 1.248 OPS and 15 home runs, both of which led the Aggies, while Emiley Kennedy leads the pitching staff with a 21-10 record and 1.68 ERA in 175 innings in the circle.

Since getting swept on the road on April 15 against Bryant, Albany finished the season with 15 wins in its final 17 games, including a seven-game winning streak. The Great Danes won three games in three days to clinch the America East Tournament. Morgan Petty led the team with nine home runs and 25 stolen bases in 133 at-bats. Wendi Hammond posted a 1.91 ERA in 179 1/3 innings, posting a 24-8 record and eight shutouts.
