The Spartans (14-8, 6-5 in conference play) find themselves in fifth place in a top-heavy Big Ten. That said, Michigan State has found itself on the upturn in recent weeks, winning five of its last six games and 10 of its last 13 following a 4-5 start. That includes the Spartans' most recent game, a 63-54 win over Maryland that netted Izzo his 700th career win on his birthday.

Can the Spartans keep it going vs. Minnesota (14-7, 5-5)? The Golden Gophers likewise enter the game with a win streak, notching victories over Northwestern and Penn State ahead of the meeting vs. MSU basketball.

Tuesday's meeting between Michigan State and Minnesota will be the 138th all-time meeting between the programs: The Spartans lead the all-time series 76-61, including three consecutive wins and victories in eight of the last nine meetings. It also is the second of what should be an easily navigable February for Izzo and Co., one that only features one ranked opponent as of the latest Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 rankings: No. 12 Illinois.

The Spartans then conclude their regular season with a March slate vs. Northwestern, No. 2 Purdue and Indiana before the Big Ten Tournament and, Spartans fans hope, the NCAA Tournament. Any hopes of a deep March Madness run must start with the Golden Gophers in Minneapolis.
