The Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers renew their longtime rivalry with a game on Thursday Night Football at legendary Lambeau Field to open Week 4 of the 2023 NFL season.

Both teams are coming off rousing home victories in different forms: The Lions defense shut down the previously unbeaten Atlanta Falcons; the Packers rallied from 17 down in the fourth quarter to quiet the Saints. The teams now face the tall task of just three off days, thanks NFL, to get ready for a battle that will decide who has the NFC North lead after four weeks.

The Lions and Packers are each 2-1 with similar resumes: The Packers have scored 80 points and allowed 62 (plus-18), while the Lions have 72 points for and 63 against (plus-9). Green Bay is 1-0 in division play thanks to a Week 1 win at Chicago. The Lions have yet to be play an NFC North foe.

This will be the first time the Lions face Packers starting quarterback Jordan Love, who took over for the departed Aaron Rodgers this offseason.

Love, 24, has mobility (six rushes for 42 yards — not including kneel downs — and a touchdown vs. New Orleans) and now has a comeback victory on his resume after directing three scoring drives in the final 13 minutes Sunday. One of his favorite targets has been second-round rookie Jayden Reed, the former Michigan State standout, and Romeo Doubs caught the winning 8-yard touchdown on a back-shoulder throw.
