According to the Pro Volleyball Federation website, the “first-year base salaries are similar to those of current first-year WNBA players.”

In 2023, the WNBA minimum is set at $62,285, according to NBC Sports.

The Pro Volleyball Federation website also states: “Our players will also be able to gain additional compensation based on achievement and postseason advancement.”

The league will play a standard college volleyball-style 6-on-6 format.

According to a press release by the team: “In ancient mythology, Valkyries are considered an elite force of female goddesses who represent Courage, Physical Strength, and the Empowerment of Women.

“The team logo features a Valkyrie goddess dressed in armor and preparing for battle. The moniker is surrounded by the city name, Orlando, and team name.

“Team colors of iron grey, gold, dark blue and light blue are prominently featured throughout.”

“For Orlando to be awarded a team in the league’s inaugural season is something special,” Forman said. “My commitment to the city and to our fans is that the Valkyries will be competitive on the court, active and involved in our community, and will be doing our part to grow this great game as we strive to be the golden standard of a professional sports franchise.”

Forman is an attorney who also owns other business interests. He and his wife Stacie founded Weruva International, Inc., a pet food company that produces globally distributed high end pet food brands.
