Celtics injury update: Walker, Brown OUT vs. Nets; Fournier off the injury report

We’ll start with the bad news first — the Boston Celtics will likely have to face the Brooklyn Nets without All-Star forward Jaylen Brown (left shoulder bursitis), starting center Robert Williams III (left knee soreness) AND surging former All-Star point guard Kemba Walker (left knee injury management) this Friday evening.

But the good news is that recently-acquired veteran shooting guard Evan Fournier is now off the team’s list of injured players for the contest against the Eastern Conference’s second-ranked team. After a lengthy stay in the NBA’s health and safety protocols, it seems the former Orlando Magic wing is ready to return to action after only having played a handful of games with his new team.

It will be a welcome addition to a shorthanded Celtics franchise.

The Nets will be a bit short-handed themselves with James Harden (hamstring) out and Kevin Durant (thigh contusion) questionable, along with a number of other rotation players out for the game or likely scratches.

The Celtics have one of the best records in the league the month of April, and the return of Fournier — even in likely limited minutes — will be a big boost to continuing that trend.
