Celtics injury update: Robert Williams III OUT along with Al Horford, Danilo Gallinari vs Warriors

Fans of waylaid Boston Celtics big man Robert Williams III who were hoping the Timelord might make his season debut against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday given his coy comments after the Celtics’ Friday practice in San Francisco will have to wait a bit longer, it seems.

Boston has announced that Williams will officially miss the tilt with the Dubs in what will be the two teams’ first meeting since Game 6 of the 2022 NBA Finals, with veteran forward Al Horford (health and safety protocols) and Danilo Gallinari (ACL) joining Williams as scratches against Golden State.

With both Celtics interim head coach Joe Mazzulla and Timelord describing Williams’ status as ‘day to day’ at post-practice media availability amid some fairly poorly-suppressed grins from the pair, speculation abounded that the Texas A&M alum’s return was imminent.

But with another 8-10 days left in the last reported timetable brought up by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, it seems likely Horford is as likely to return from the protocols somewhat sooner, barring another twist in this ongoing return saga.
