Mackinaw City's Kenzlie Currie voted Daily Tribune's Athlete of the Week for Feb. 12-17
MACKINAW CITY – Mackinaw City freshman girls basketball player Kenzlie Currie has been voted the Cheboygan Daily Tribune’s Athlete of the Week for Feb. 12-17.
In what was an exciting voting period, Currie racked up 31.77 percent of the vote, while Cheboygan senior girls basketball player Bella Ecker took second with 26.44 percent of the vote. Voting began on Tuesday morning and closed on Thursday night. Over 2,400 votes were cast during the period.
Next week’s Athlete of the Week nominees will be revealed on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

Bella Ecker, Cheboygan Girls Basketball – Led the Chiefs with 17 points against Grayling.
Luke Marsh, Cheboygan Bowling – Captured the NMBC individual bowling title with a 205 average.
Gus Carper, Inland Lakes Wrestling – Finished fourth and qualified for the state finals at 132 pounds at a regional meet in Charlevoix.
Kenzlie Currie, Mackinaw City Girls Basketball – Finished with 16 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals in a win over Alanson.
Ema DeMaestri, Onaway Girls Basketball – Recorded 13 points and 12 rebounds against Gaylord St. Mary.
Josiah Brabson, Burt Lake NMCA Boys Basketball – Registered 18 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists against Ellsworth.
