Casey Roddick impressed with new-look Buffs offense
The Colorado Buffaloes’ offense will look much different in 2022, and not so much because of the players on the field.
Sure, Jarek Broussard went to Michigan State, and Brenden Rice left for USC, but it is the new-look scheme from offensive coordinator Mike Sanford that is sending new life into this group.
Guard Casey Roddick opened up about the offense in Boulder and admitted there are a lot of positive changes in store, (h/t Jake Schwanitz of DNVR).
“It’s obviously a new offense, I’ve never been a part of an offense like this so it’s going to be something that’s new. I think that essentially, it fits our players well. It fits the QB well, fits the RBs well, fits the WRs well, so I think it’s more of what you would run in the NFL and preparing [us] for the next level as well. So I think that it’s allowing us to get our football knowledge to the next level.”
Roddick, who is enjoying a more normal preseason after battling myocarditis last year, is already noticing a sizeable difference from what has been taught and coached in the past.
It’s still early, but so far there is a big difference between last year’s group, and it starts up front (h/t DNVR).
“I mean at the end of the day you have to protect. Last year we did not do a great job of that and this year with Coach DeVan that’s been a point of emphasis for us.”
