Cardinals show interest in athletic safety, special teams player

The Arizona Cardinals appear to be set at the safety position, but they potentially have their eye on a prospect who could be a special teams contributor like Charles Washington, Chirs Banjo and Shawn Williams.

According to Justin Melo, the Cardinals are one of many teams to have met with Auburn safety prospect Jordyn Peters.

He is not fast, as he posted a 4.7-second 40 at his pro day, but he has some explosiveness. He had a 39.5-inch vertical leap and 10-4 broad jump.

In 10 games last season, he posted 42 tackles, one tackle for loss, an interception and four pass breakups.

He has been huge on special teams. He had a combined five blocked kicks and punts.

He is, at best, a Day 3 pick and might be a guy the Cardinals target as a priority free agent. The 40 time will drive many teams away.

But he is a player to know for the Cardinals.
