Cardinals must add at least one O-lineman to roster for game vs. Jaguars

The Arizona Cardinals enter Week 3 thin on the offensive line. Two players — guard Brian Winters and tackle Josh Miles — have been ruled out of the game. Another — right tackle Kelvin Beachum — is questionable and will be a game-day decision Sunday.

If Beachum is active, and he likely will be, the team only has seven healthy offensive linemen.

Teams can have up to 47 players active for games, but they are required to have at least eight offensive linemen available to play.

Winters is the Cardinals’ primary backup at both guard positions.

The Cardinals protected practice squad offensive lineman Sean Harlow earlier this week, so it would appear likely we can expect him to be elevated to the roster on Saturday.

That would give the Cardinals a starting lineup of left tackle D.J. Humphries, left guard Justin Pugh, center Rodney Hudson, right guard Josh Jones and either Beachum or Justin Murray at right tackle. Whoever doesn’t start at right tackle will be the primary backup at tackle, Harlow would back up at the guard positions and Max Garcia would be the backup center.

Harlow has played one NFL game. The former fourth-round draft pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 2017 played one offensive snap in 2019.

If elevated on Sunday, he will likely see time on special teams on the kicking team.
